The Sustainable Transportation Action Research Team (START), led by Dr. Axsen at Simon Fraser University, is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join the Resource & Environmental Management (REM) Program. The position is available for a start date in either September 2025 or January 2026, and will focus on research related to low-carbon transportation technologies and practices.

Eligible candidates should have a background in social science, policy analysis, survey/interview design, and/or quantitative modeling and methods. Applicants are expected to demonstrate proficiency in at least two of the following areas:

– Statistical analysis of consumer and market data
– Survey and/or interview design and research methods
– Quantitative modeling of energy or transport systems
– Valuation methods and/or discrete choice modeling
– Market analysis for alternative fuels or low-carbon technology
– Climate policy and technological change
