The Integrated Core Characterization Center (IC³) at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for one Postdoctoral Researcher and one PhD Student position. The research will focus on the application of computer vision and machine learning techniques to digital rock images, such as CT scans and microscopy, for the analysis of physical rock properties. This work is relevant to unconventional oil and gas recovery, carbon sequestration, hydrogen geostorage, and critical mineral extraction.
Responsibilities include:
– Development and optimization of algorithms for processing 2D and 3D rock images
– Integration of image-based features with petrophysical datasets
– Multiscale data analysis
Postdoctoral Researcher Requirements:
– PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline
– Strong background in image processing and computer vision
– Demonstrated ability to publish scholarly work
PhD Student Requirements:
– Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
– Experience in image analysis and computer vision
– Strong programming skills
Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in petrophysics or multiscale data analysis.
