The Institute of Clinical Neuroimmunology is seeking applications for a PhD position focused on the study of B cells and plasma cells in neuroinflammation, particularly in the context of multiple sclerosis (MS) and related disorders. The research will be conducted at the Biomedical Center (BMC) in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Edgar Meinl, in close collaboration with clinical care units at Klinikum Großhadern. The institute provides a unique environment for integrating basic research with clinical applications.

Requirements:
– MSc or equivalent degree in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Neuroscience, or a related discipline; alternatively, an MD with a strong interest in basic research
– Enthusiasm for translational research connecting laboratory findings to clinical relevance
– Experience with FACS, immune cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and/or bioinformatics is advantageous
– Strong communication skills and fluency in English (spoken and written)

Responsibilities:
– Culture and FACS analysis of human immune cells
– Application of cellular, molecular, and biochemical techniques to investigate antigen recognition and effector functions of autoantibodies
– Data analysis and collaboration with computational scientists
